Prime Minister to unions: “This is as best as we can do at this time”

Posted: Thursday, May 13, 2021. 6:34 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: Today, Prime Minister John Briceño said that Government has been meeting with the unions almost every week since February.

“I could understand them taking the stand that they do not want a pay cut but the pay cut is inevitable simply because we don’t have the money,” Briceño stated.

In addition, the Prime Minister says that Government found innovative ways to see how they can ‘soften’ that blow.

“I am very hopeful and I believe that at the end of the day, the unions will see that we have done as best as we can but we have reached the end. We cant continue endless negotiations and this as best as we can do at this time,” Briceno said.

The Prime Minister says that a negotiating team met with the union leaders this afternoon.
