An Appointment You Will Keep

Paid Collaboration: Globally, more than 150,000 people die every day. The leading cause of death might surprise you. It isn’t a virus. It isn’t old age. It isn’t suicide or murder. It is sin.  

Sin is transgression (breaking) of Gods law. It’s the standard He expects His creation to live by and obey. Unfortunately, none of us have. We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Every day we break His laws. Lying, Stealing, Blasphemy, Sexual immorality, even murder and theft!  

The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23). The soul that sins will die.  

You Have An Appointment With God 

You are going to stand before God and give an account of your life. The Bible says, “it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment” (Heb 9:27). Because God is good, He is going to judge you according to the perfect, moral standard of His law. Because God is Good, He must punish your sin; and the punishment for all sin against God is eternity in hell. It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God. 

An Escape 

God has provided only One Way for you to escape His wrath and receive His forgiveness. The good news is that Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life (Heb. 4:15). He is God in the flesh (Jn. 1:1). The Bible says that He literally “became sin for us” that we might become “the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21). You cannot stand before God in your own righteousness. That kind of righteousness is repulsive to God (Is. 64:6)! He offers those who will come to Him His own righteousness so that you will be clothed in it on the day of judgment, and not in your own. An exchange must take place; you must somehow lose your sins and gain His righteousness. Romans 5:8-9 tells us that “God demonstrated His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then being justified by His blood we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” He paid your ‘court fine’ so that you could go free. This is wonderful news. 

Your only hope is for Jesus, the God-Man, to save you from the wrath of God. God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth—truly God and truly man, yet without sin. He voluntarily shed his innocent blood and died on the cross, taking upon Himself the punishment sinners who would believe in Him rightly deserve for their sins against God. Three days later, He defeated sin and death when He rose from the grave. Repent and believe the gospel while God has given you time.

Friends, we love you enough to tell you the truth. Your day has already been appointed by God. Make sure you’re ready. If you will not repent, you will perish in your sins. Repent and turn to Christ before it’s too late!
