By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Giovanni Lovell and Kaya Cattouse won the 22-mile C-Ray’s Full Throttle Thursday cycling race.
Kaya reported that after 14 long months because of the pandemic, her team finally had a race but they changed the route to the Philip Goldson International Airport Road and John Smith Road which connect the Phillip Goldson Highway with the George Price Highway by Mile 8.
Kaya said 42 riders gathered at 5:30 a.m. by the Philip Goldson Highway and Airport Road junction from where they had a lead-out to the John Smith Road where the race started which consisted of 22 miles or two laps of the John Smith and Philip Goldson International Airport Road.
Lovell won the Elite Category and Overall in 55 minutes and 14 seconds riding at an average speed of 23.8 miles per hour.
Joshua Fuller was 2nd, Byron Pope rode in 3rd, Wasani Castro was 4th, and Kenroy Gladden finished 5th,
Kaya Cattouse won the Women’s Category over Alicia Thompson.
Elwin Humes took the Junior/Youth Categories.
Stephen Smith was tops in the Novice Category followed by Irvin Zelaya.
The Masters A Category (35-44yrs) was won by Kenroy Gladden. Henry Moreira was 2nd, and Brandon Cattouse 3rd.
Dwayne Wade won the Master B (45-54yrs) followed by Gilroy Robinson (2nd) and Fitzgerald ‘Palas’ Joseph
In the Masters C (55+yrs), Warren Coye rode in first, with Santino Castillo (2nd) and Barney Brown (3rd) trailing him.
