Belize lose 8-1 to Panama, eliminated in Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship in Costa Rica

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Panama routed the Belize Men’s National Beach Soccer Team (BMNBST) 8-1 at the 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

Coupled with yesterday’s 6-3 loss to champions Mexico, Belize is eliminated from the tournament.

Marlon Meza scored Belize’s only goal in the ball game which saw the Panamanians score three in the first third, one in the second and three in the 3rd period.

Belize’s lone goal came in the second period.

Seven different players scored for Panama. Captain McKenzie netted two while Londoño, Kelly, García, Villarreal, Torres, and Carbajal all scored one each.

Meza and Evan Mariano scored two goals apiece in Belize’s two games.

While Belize’s squad returns home, Panama and Mexico decide who wins Group A tomorrow.

The top two teams qualify to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia.
