By Benjamin Flowers: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) said today that it has deployed a surveillance team from the Central Health Region to investigate positive cases of COVID-19 detected at Queen’s Square Anglican School and Wesley Primary School.
The Ministry said that one teacher at Queen’s Square Primary School tested positive and is in isolation, while testing for students in that particular class is ongoing. The other teachers from the school have been tested and all rapid tests so far have returned negative and are awaiting the results of PCR tests. Meanwhile, at Wesley Primary School, four students ages 12, 10, eight, and seven have tested positive.
The MOHW said that it has established a link between the infections at the two schools, noting that all students that have tested positive are close contacts of persons linked to the Princess Casino outbreak.
“The seven-year-old student is exhibiting mild symptoms while the others are asymptomatic. All students are in isolation. The teachers and schoolmates of these children have all been tested apart from the seven-year-old whose classmates will be tested tomorrow,” the Ministry added.
The MOHW called on the public to continue using face masks properly, as well as maintaining physical distancing in public spaces and maintaining frequent hand washing.
