By Benjamin Flowers: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) clarified today that the vaccination data contained in its routine reports reflect only those who have gotten their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
The Ministry’s last report, dated May 17, showed a total of 53,496 vaccines administered, with 743 people vaccinated on that day.
Maternal and Child Health Advisor for the MOHW, Dr. Natalia Beer, told the media today that the Ministry began the process today of disaggregating the data in order to present the full picture in terms of persons who have taken their first shots and who became fully vaccinated by taking their second shots. The ministry will also present data to reflect those who opted to take the newly available SINOPHARM BBIP COVID-19 vaccine as opposed to the AstraZeneca shot.
Beer said that the Ministry is working to make that data available as soon as possible. She also shared that 3,200 teachers have been vaccinated, representing 54 percent of that target population; however less than 400 police officers have received their first shot, representing only 17 percent of that target population.
