By Aaron Humes: Minister of Education Francis Fonseca said parents must do their part to follow the protocol with regard to reporting and containing COVID-19.
The reports of cases at Belize City schools Wesley Lower and Queens Square Anglican among teachers and students this week have, in a few cases, been linked to the outbreak at Princess Casino that infected 21 persons, but these are the first cases among schools, in which 352 total schools have re-opened.
It is protocol that parents who caught COVID-19 should not send their children to school but not everyone may be aware and so it is a matter of collective responsibility and constant monitoring of the situation, the minister said.
