United States to work closely with COVAX to donate 80 million vaccine doses

By Zoila Palma: The United States of America has announced that it will donate a significant number of COVID-19 vaccines through the World Health Organization’s COVAX scheme.

On Monday, President Joe Biden said that by end of June, the US will send over 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccine and Johnson and Johnson to COVAX along with the 60 million doses of AstraZeneca that he had planned to donate to other countries.

A US official said that the vaccines will include a substantial portion through COVAX.

In addition, the administration is also looking at increasing its funding for COVAX.
