By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform and Galen University signed a memorandum of understanding for a Good Governance, Transparency and Ethics course to be offered to Belizean public officers.

Minister Henry Charles Usher says that the curriculum will serve to strengthen transparency in the public service.

The Minister said that this initiative is part of the continuous development for public officers as it offers to train the trainers who will return to their departments and train their colleagues.

The trainers will then implement an anti-corruption curriculum to the wider public service.

“I am confident that all partners will be able to define, recognize and combat corruption and point out the causes and consequences. It will raise awareness on the consequences of corruption and will make changes to decrease dishonesty in public service,” Usher said.

“This is more than a memorandum, this is a contractual partnership to work together in the development of our country,” Usher stated.
