By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Public Service, Constitutional and Political reform and Galen University signed a memorandum of understanding for a first-of-its-kind Good Governance course.

The course will provide an opportunity for training senior public officers to deliver a curriculum on Good Governance, Transparency and Ethics.

Already, 43 public officers are engaged in the course at Galen University.

In addition, it will offer continuous professional development to public officers and the key focus of the initiative is good governance.

Mistress of Ceremonies, Deanna Peyrefitte said that the initiative is well-timed and being executed at the right time.

Provost of Galen University, Dr. Cynthia Eve Aird thanked all stakeholders for their collaboration in making the course a success.

Dr. Aird also thanked Carlos Magana, Belizean economist for adapting the course for Belizean public officers.

Dr. Aird also recognized Deborah Seawell from the Love Foundation who was responsible for the development of the initial curriculum on Good governance through the CARSI grant from the US Embassy.

The curriculum provides anti-corruption training and will be implemented as a component of the mandatory training offered to public officers seeking promotion within the Belize public service.
