By Benjamin Flowers: Authorities in Caye Caulker are currently engaged in a search for Aravid Srinivasan, a 27-year-old Indian national reported missing on Tuesday.

Police say that the owner of the hotel where Srinivasan was staying reported him missing after he rented a canoe on Monday but never came back.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo of Eastern Division Crimes Investigation Branch, said that a fisherman in the area found a canoe today which was later identified as the one Srinivasan was in. Police have since informed the Consulate General of India which will then seek to get in touch with Srinivasan’s family.

The Caye Caulker Town Council has joined in the search and is asking residents in the area to assist in locating him.
