By Aaron Humes: In a direct confrontation not yet seen in this latest industrial action phase, members of the Joint Unions negotiating with Government have been protesting on the street outside the home of Prime Minister John Briceno in his home town of Orange Walk Town, Orange Walk District.
On Thursday, union leaders had promised, according to KREM News, that they would take their fight to his home town. This is after making their first public calls for him to come directly to the negotiating table instead of relying on deputy Cordel Hyde, Public Service Minister Henry Charles Usher and Education Minister Francis Fonseca, as well as Minister of State Christopher Coye.
The home of the P.M. on Dunn Street and the nearby residence of Minister of State Ramon “Monchie” Cervantes was heavily guarded by elements of Belizean law enforcement authorities and blocked off with crime scene tape.
The protestors took off from San Lorenzo Road behind the Northern Regional Hospital.
