By Aaron Humes: Friday evening was particularly bloody, concluding a week of shootings and retaliation upon retaliation for various previous incidents.
The first victim appears to be clearly unintended, taking bullets meant for someone else according to police.
37-year-old Dina Mas, a Guatemalan national from Saint Martin Extension, was walking on the right-hand side of Lakeview Street, headed north toward Vernon Street, when someone who was hiding in a bushy area opened fire, aiming for a man opposite her who was walking on the left side down toward Cemetery Road.
Unfortunately, Dina was hit by the shots in the body and was admitted to hospital in a stable condition.
The immediate area is the center of a gang conflict that has claimed multiple lives in recent months.
Police are investigating.
