Gas shortage continues, problem may be addressed today

Posted: Tuesday, May 25, 2021. 10:41 am CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: Gas stations at various locations across the country are reporting a shortage of fuel; however, sources say the issue may be resolved today.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) broke the story on Sunday of fuel shortages being reported at gas stations in Belize City, Orange Walk, and some areas down south. Yesterday, there were reports that gas stations in Belmopan are also short on certain types of fuel.

BBN understands supply may have been affected by a delay of shipment in Belize’s harbor but it is expected the shortage will be relieved today.

The government said that it was aware of the delay last week but suppliers said that there was enough fuel in stock to supply local demand in the meantime.

This is a developing story.
