Health Minister swiftly fires driver after meltdown at police station

Posted: Tuesday, May 25, 2021. 10:50 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat, has reportedly terminated the services of driver Hamid Awe, Sr. just a day after last night’s episode at the San Ignacio Police Station.

Awe’s son had been detained and the father was, according to Chebat, reacting emotionally to seeing his son in handcuffs; he had also allegedly been beaten up.

In a video recorded and now widely circulated on social media, a shirtless and maskless Awe is heard repeatedly stating that he will call someone, presumably his now former boss though he was careful not to call any names, to intervene. In sometimes coarse language, he warned police not to touch him and threatens they will lose their jobs for what happened.

It’s now turned out that he’s lost his, as the Minister told other media earlier today that although Awe has been one of his loyal supporters, his behaviour was not acceptable and he cannot keep him as his driver.

Chebat has washed his hands of the matter, which is now being dealt with by police.
