COVID-19 changes: Shelter space to be spread out, vaccinated and non-vaccinated will be kept separate

By Aaron Humes: The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has complicated efforts to plan for natural disasters like hurricanes and sheltering the population.

The list of shelters will be expanded where possible and there will be ten people to a room rather than the usual 30.

Shelton Defour, NEMO Coordinator, explained that generally, those who are vaccinated against COVID-19 will be separated in shelters from the unvaccinated, though special provisions may be needed in situations where there is an outbreak of COVID in a community.
