By Aaron Humes: The lobster season in Belize and Central America re-opens on July 1, and the fishing communities of San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker and Placencia celebrate with Lobster Fest, honoring the spiny crustacean that brings so much revenue from both fishing and tourism.
While mass gatherings continue to be prohibited, Caribbean Lifestyle is advertising a “Lobster Tour” for visitors and Belizeans to experience the fun of lobster season a little differently than normal.
Hopkins Bay – Muy’Ono Resort; Lionfish Grill at Ray Caye; Sunbreeze Suites and Hotel and The Belize Collection – Sleeping Giant and Lodge at Jaguar Reef are offering special discounts and packages on weekly and monthly stays including lobster for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks too. See the Belize Lobster Tour 2021 page here.
If you can’t make it to any of these restaurants and hotels, try any of the 22 places listed here as “Fish Right, Eat Right” – compliant organizations that use sustainably caught lobster, fresh from the sea to your plate without any opaque providers.
Have a happy and safe lobster season!
