Alaska Airlines releases flight schedule to Belize

By Benjamin Flowers: Following the announcement earlier this month of nonstop service to Belize, Alaska Airlines has released the flight schedule for those flights.

The new service will have flights leaving twice a week from Seattle (SEA) Tacoma International Airport to Belize (BZE) on Fridays and Saturdays beginning November 19, 2021, with the return flight the following day. There will also be flights leaving four times a week ( Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which also begins on November 19.

“Flights will be on a 159 seat 737-800 and are available for purchase on alaskaair.com,” the airline said.

The schedule is as follows: SEA-BZE departs SEA at 8:30 AM arriving in BZE at 4:35 PM on Friday and Saturday. These flights leave BZE on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 AM to arrive in SEA at 3:55 PM.

The LAX-BZE flights depart LAX at 11:00 AM to arrive in BZE at 5:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. These flights depart BZE bound for LAX at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, for arrival at LAX at 3:30 PM.

The news is being well received by Belize’s airline industry, which has already begun offering connecting flights to/from San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Placencia. The news is also a sign of hope to the tourism sector, as recovery efforts to revive the market after being shut down due to COVID-19 continue.
