Cayo Animal Welfare Society denounces animal cruelty in Benque Viejo

By Zoila Palma: Cayo Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) issued a statement today denouncing animal cruelty.

“We have become aware of a disgusting incident that occurred in Benque the other day. A prominent long-time resident and business owner decided his neighbour’s dog was a nuisance and rather than dealing with the situation with some common sense, the man took it upon himself to hang the 8-month-old dog from a tree in broad daylight in front of witnesses,” CAWS said.

CAWS is now calling on anyone who witnessed this crime to report it to the Benque Viejo police.

“We cannot tolerate this sort of behaviour in our communities. PLEASE. Report animal abuse and cruelty. These creatures cannot speak for themselves,” CAWS reminds.
