By Aaron Humes: The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize has issued thanks to Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness, for his “powerful statement calling for the inclusion of Taiwan as an observer in the 74th (WHA) on May 26.”
It also gives appreciation to fellow members of Cabinet and the National Assembly for their letters to the World Health Organization (WHO) Secretariat, urging the Organization to invite Taiwan to participate in the WHA.
“A friend in need is a friend indeed. Once again, thank you, Belize!!” The Embassy says.
Taiwan has been sidelined in the international community due to the powerful intervention of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), which continues to claim Taiwan and surrounding areas as part of “all China” and has been working to reduce Taiwanese influence worldwide.
Belize picked sides long ago, repeatedly reiterating its support for the recognition of Taiwan as a state.
