U.S. Embassy Belize congratulates Belize’s new Governor General

By Zoila Palma: Today, the United States Embassy in Belize joined in congratulating the new Governor General of Belize, Froyla Tzalam.

Tzalam is the country’s third Governor General and the first indigenous American to hold the post.

Tzalam was officially sworn in this morning at the House of Culture in Belize City.

“The difference between dependence and resilience is whether you are on your knees or standing on your own two feet,” Tzalam said, promising to emulate the style of the late Rt. Hon. George Price as a thread between the Government and the country – and to be “the best Governor-General ever.”

“We wish you a successful tenure in office,” the embassy said in a statement.
