Kilo brick of cocaine found; could it have come from crashed plane?

By Aaron Humes: Police have recovered a 1.15-kilogram or 2 1/2 pound brick of cocaine on an unnamed island east of Placencia, Stann Creek District, on Wednesday afternoon.

Speculation was high in the area since Saturday morning, after an alleged drug plane went down in the sea off the village that plenty of cocaine, also known as “white lobster” would surface, and rumor had it that some had already managed to scoop a few floating kilos of the alleged cargo.

Police have asked directly that citizens finding these items turn them in to avoid being targeted.

As for Wednesday’s find, on the island located in the Lark’s Caye area, east of Placencia, it was wrapped in a dark material, with the word, “Beretta” on it. The officers sliced it open, and identified the familiar, white powdery substance.

No one was in the area, and it was taken to the police station and deposited as found property.
