By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s top athletes will be competing in the National Track and Field Championship on Saturday and Sunday, May 29-30, at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City.

“Everything is set for the weekend, so, I’m asking athletes to pre-register so that we could have things set up as quickly as possible,” Sutherland added.

“We wanted the four athletes that are on the Olympic Solidarity scholarship. Three of them are here, only Samantha Dirks [is not] but she already has a registered meet for [the] weekend,” Sutherland said.

The other three, Shaun Gill, Mark Anderson, and Hillary Gladden, will compete along with Brandon Adolphus and Ana Lopez who have been very consistent winning virtual traces over the last few months.

“From the districts we’re looking at least from 50 to 75. From Belize City we hope that we can get another 75 to a 100,” said Belize Athletics Association (BAA) president Deon Sutherland.
