By Aaron Humes: In the course of laying a paper on the table concerning acquisition of a new passport system, Prime Minister John Briceño lamented the state of affairs in which the basic systems of public service were allegedly left to fall apart.
He confirmed in his speech that Government was in fact renting a house for newly appointed Governor General Froyla Tzalam in Belmopan while Belize House, the traditional residence, is being renovated.
Meanwhile, the new passport system will cost at least US$10 million including blank passports, but the P.M. said it would be money well spent.
He complained that the previous administration had ignored the issue to the point where the system was literally breaking down: cameras are taking five or six pictures for the price of one.
