By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Today Belize will have new cricket champions.
Summer Fever made a comeback last week and forced a third game today at 10am at Lord’s Bank in the Belize National Cricket Association Barry Bowen/Harrison Parks Championship.
Summer Fever beat the Belmopan Bandits 123-122 last Saturday forcing a 3rd game in the Belize National Cricket Association’s (BNCA) Barry Bowen/Harrison Parks finals. The Bandits had won Game 1 165-164 the previous week at the Governor General’s field in Belmopan.
Today’s game at 10am is the decisive match which will crown the winning squad as the new champions. The BDF team, which won the previous championship, withdrew from this championship which is actually the 2020 edition. The tournament was discontinued last year at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic when the playoffs were just getting started.

Kenton Young scored 27 runs not out for the Summer Fever while hitting four sixes. Brian Casasola scored 23 runs, Maurice Castillo added 19 while Jermain Baizer contributed 14 not out.
Two weeks ago, when the Bandits defeated Summer Fever in Belmopan, Summer Fever batted first. Maurice Castillo scored 44 runs. Team captain Kenton Young added 20 runs, Jovanni Baizar accounted for 19 runs, and George Hinds for 16 runs before they were all out at 164 runs.
Leeron Muslar scored 56 runs not out for the Bandits. Glenford Banner added 36, Jermaine Smith 26, Calbert Reynolds 21 and Greg Scott 17.
