By Zoila Palma: Today, Belize’s land and sea borders officially re-opened for foreign tourists only.
Those wishing to visit Belize for recreation and vacation purposes are now able to enter the country.
The Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora relations reminded that entry or exit by Belizeans, diplomats, military personnel, permanent residents, etc. will continue on a restricted basis and still requires official permission from the relevant agencies.
Included in the phased re-opening procedures is a list of standard operating procedures including showing proof of booking at a Belize Tourism Board approved Gold standard certified hotel.
Tourists must also be transported by Gold standard approved transportation and present a proof of negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival.
Those without the test result will be subject to a rapid test upon entering.
Santa Elena Border and Belize Western Border stations time of operations will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, until further notice.
