Shyne Barrow speaks on Party Leader Patrick Faber’s domestic squabble: ‘He fell short’

Benjamin Flowers: United Democratic Party (UDP) Leader Patrick Faber has faced much public backlash this week after a video suraced of him acting violently in a domestic situation, with the latest backlash coming from within his own party via Messopotamia area representative Shyne Barrow.

Barrow took to Facebook this morning to condemn all acts of violence against women and said that Faber had fallen short in handling his domestic situation. Barrow acknowledged Faber’s public apology but said that the situation now raises serious questions within the UDP.

“Correcting our errors is the key to redemption and transformation however when repeat our errors we must accept we have a problem and seek help,” Barrow said. “I am encouraged by Patrick’s apology, however, we as a Party & Parliamentarians must now deliberate if an apology is enough or are their further corrective measures that need to take place to treat a problem that persists and send a clear message to the public that the UDP will not tolerate certain actions especially from our Party Leader.”

Barrow, who has also been the subject of public ridicule over alleged violent behavior in a domestic dispute due to a leaked police report, categorized the situation as “extremely difficult to be in” and said that while he does not want to rush to crucify a colleague, his party must not defend the indefensible or excuse the inexcusable.
