Tampa patrol trooper, Ronald Drake, lends hand to Belizean businessman

By BBN Staff: A Belizean businessman reached out to Breaking Belize News to share an incident that occurred in April, 2021 in Tampa.

He told BBN that he flew to Tampa to conduct business, particularly, to purchase a vehicle. However, at the time he arrived, the vehicle that he wanted had been sold. In addition, due to credit card restrictions in Belize, he was having difficulty getting an UBER to move around.

Strapped with time to drive down the vehicle to Belize, he began walking downtown seeking assistance to find the nearest auction site.

Having no relatives or friends in Tampa, he hoped to find someone to assist.

Nearby, he noticed a police patrol vehicle handling a road traffic accident.

The businessman approached patrol officer, Ronald Drake who without hesitating offered to assist.

The businessman said that he introduced himself and said that he was from Belize.

“When I said I was from Belize, he responded and said that he loves Belize and has visited,” the businessman said.

During their conversation, Drake said that he had visited Belize and hopes to return soon.

Drake, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper who works out of Troop C in Tampa told the businessman that he could offer assistance, an act that was hailed by passersby that heard the situation.

Drake told BBN that he was glad to help out.

The businessman and his family have since extended their gratitude to Drake for lending a helping hand to a complete stranger. BBN wishes the best to both families and thanks them for a heartwarming contribution.

Notably, Drake has also previously been hailed Trooper of the Month for assisting an elderly lady who was travelling with her husband when he suffered a heart attack.
