National Garifuna Council meets with Deputy Prime Minister

By Zoila Palma: Today, members of the National Garifuna Council (NGC) met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, Cordel Hyde, in Belmopan.

The delegation included Andrew Castillo – NGC President, Beatrice Mariano – NGC 2nd Vice President, Sheena Zuniga – NGC Secretary, Cynthia Cayetano – NGC Treasurer, Melissa Zuniga – NGC Project Coordinator, Patricia Arana – NGC Board Member and Hansel Warrior – Chairman of the St. Vincent Block Committee.

Hyde and members of the NGC discussed the memorandum of understanding between NGC and the Government.

Discussions also included projects update and other issues affecting the different Garifuna communities.

“The meeting was positive and productive and will pave the way forward as the Ministry and NGC continue to work together in a collaborative partnership,” the NGC said.
