By Aaron Humes: Winding down the debate on the Recological Systems Limited, Leader of Government business Senator Eamon Courtenay pointed out that in land law a lease creates an interest in land which fits the term “disposal” as cited in the Finance and Audit Reform Act.
The terms of the lease, said Courtenay, provided nothing in terms of equipment to be used, or persons to be employed, as cited by Trade Union Senator Elena Smith. Further, there was no public disclosure and the Caribbean Court of Justice has spoken about the powers of caretaker governments in other contexts.
Business Senator Kevin Herrera earlier spoke about the issue of investor confidence and investment risk.
The motion is referred to the relevant committee for further examination, consideration and report.
