U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris visits Guatemala

By Zoila Palma: On Sunday, Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris arrived in Guatemala.

VP Harris is scheduled to meet with Guatemalan President, Alejandro Giammattei this morning to discuss immigration, economic and justice issues, Prensa Libre reports.

VP Harris is tasked with tackling migration to the United States and in so doing, she is meeting with leaders of the Central American nations in an attempt to curb migration.

According to the report, almost 3 million Guatemalan have emigrated to the USA and the main cause of migration is in search for better living conditions.

Better trade options will be reflected in greater employment in Guatemala and serve as an incentive for Guatemalans to work in their home country.

VP Harris is also working on a bilateral agenda to promote greater investment by US companies.
