Posted: Tuesday, June 8, 2021. 6:41 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Haiti edged Nicaragua 1-0 at the Sylvio Cator Stadium in Port-au-Prince scoring their lone goal under heavy rain in the 63rd minute.

Derrick Etienne nailed the Nicaraguan goalkeeper after much to and fro from both sides.

After trouncing Turks and Caicos Islands 10-0 on the weekend, Haiti only needed a draw today, while Nicaragua needed a win.

Nicaragua totaled six points only allowing that lone goal against Haiti today. Belize recorded three points from a win and two losses while Turks and Caicos Islands finished without a point.

St Lucia withdrew before the qualifying round started.

Haiti now goes on to play the winner of Canada and Suriname in the next round.
