By Aaron Humes: Further to our story this evening in which Mesopotamia representative and chief party whip Moses “Shyne” Barrow said he and fellow parliamentarians supported Albert area representative Tracy Taegar-Panton to lead them in the House of Representatives instead of party leader Patrick Faber, she has responded with a firm denial.
Her statement in full reads, “I, Tracy Panton, wish to make it clear that I do not associate myself with the statement of the Hon Shyne Barrow, placed on social media, regarding the lack of confidence in the UDP Party Leader, the Hon Patrick Faber, as the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives. This is a time for the United Democratic Party to unite, heal and rebuild.”
This is hardly the end of the matter as there is a set of party leaders who have indeed lost confidence in Faber and are working to move him aside, but so far he appears to be holding firm.
None of Barrow, Faber nor Panton responded to our calls this evening seeking comment. We continue to follow the story.
