U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris meets with Mexican President

By Zoila Palma: Today, Vice President of the USA, Kamala Harris met with Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador to discuss the underlying causes of migration from the Northern triangle countries of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala to the US.

VP Harris and President Lopez Obrador met at the National Palace in Mexico as part of the Biden’s administration’s strategy to address the causes of migration.

VP Harris said that the US and Mexico have a long-standing relationship with shared borders and “a shared history,” USA Today reported.

The leaders are signing a memorandum of understanding focused on immigration issues.

President Lopez Obrador said that the discussions would be surrounding the main causes of migration.

On Monday, VP Harris had met with Guatemalan President, Alejandro Giammattei to discuss economic issues as well as to provide aid for better opportunities for residents to remain and work in their home countries.
