By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize National Cross Country Team left Belize today to represent Belize at the CADICA Cross Country Championship in Chiquimula in Guatemala on Friday and Saturday, June 11-12.
“We just have to go out there and put it all out,” said Brandom Adolphus in a telephone conversation with Breaking Belize News before they departed Melchor de Mencos to Chiquimula.
Btrandon said the contingent was told it would be a ten-hour drive in a van contracted by the Belize Athletics Association. He figured if they left Melchor by 5:30, they would be in Chuiquimula by 4:00 a.m.
BAA president Deon Sutherland said Belize will compete in nine categories at the Central American Championships.
Brandon Adolphus and Amir Ramos will compete in the Men’s Open 12K while Ana Lopez-Camp and Irene Thiessen will do so in the Women’s Open 8K.
Kamrone Sainsbury and Nathaniel Linarez will represent in the Men’s U-20 or Junior A 8Km.
Andres Armstrong and Ceasar Trejo represent in the Men’s U18 (Junior B) 6K while Jada Logan does so in the Women’s U18 4K.
Kaylin Monterroso and Keely Faux compete in the Girls U16 (Junior C) 2K while Albert Lemus and Rupert Cardinez represent in the Boys U16 4K.
The Girls U-14 (Infants A) 2K competitors are Latisha Ramirez, Rossy Guardado, Tridean Martinez.
The Boys U14 2K athletes are Ruben Gentle and Arniel Godoy.
The team is accompanied by coach Patricia Ramirez, the BAA president Deon Sutherland and chaperones Julie Faux and Laruney Cruz.
