By Zoila Palma: On Tuesday, Pfizer announced that it will commence a study to test its COVID-19 vaccine in children under the age of 12, Reuters report.
Over 4,000 children at 90 clinical sites in the United States, Finland, Poland and Spain are expected to participate in the study.
In Europe, US and Canada, the Pfizer vaccine has been authorized for use in children age 12.
Pfizer noted that it has selected a dose of 10 micrograms in children between 5 and 11 years of age and 3 micrograms between for infants in age-group of 6 months to five.
Vaccinating children and young adults will be a critical step toward reaching global immunity.
