By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Gilberto Acosta, Alvan Gillett, Wayne Moses, Leroy Casasola, Santino Castillo, Edison Usher and Kaya Cattouse among others were involved in a crash during the C-Ray’s Full Throttle Thursday’s Race on the John Smith Road this morning.
Gillett and Moses suffered the brunt of the crash, said Kaya Cattouse.
“It’s either broken or dislocated, but he couldn’t move his shoulder, so we suspect that he has collar bone issues,” said Kaya Cattouse of Alvan Gillett after this morning’s crash.
“I’m heading for stitches,” Kaya said.
“I have a busted elbow that needs a couple stitches and my shoulder, I think I have ligament or tendon issues. I’m going to Doctor [Francis] Smith shortly for him to check it out,” she added.
According to Kaya, Acosta fell between the Western Pines cutoff and the George Price Highway Mile 8. Roundabout during the first lap of the race.
“At least like 8 or 9 of us went down,” Kaya said. “There was a piece of clay on the road from those dump trucks. A cyclist hit it and his fork broke…the rest was history.”
“One suspected broken collar bone and another has severe damage to the back,” she said at the time.
“The rest of us just busted up, nothing broken. My bike got more damage than me,” she added.
Kaya said the race was won by Joshua Fuller.
