By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Canadian Tyler Mislawchuk won the 2021 World Triathlon Cup in Huatulco, Mexico, in 53 minutes and nine seconds on Sunday morning.

Two Brazilians, Manoel Messias (53:21) and Miguel Hidalgo (53:22) finished 2nd and 3rd.

David Núñez (53:25) from Mexico was 4th and David Castro Fajardo (53:26) from Spain was 5th.

Belizeans Kian Trejo and brothers Brandon and Jordan Santos traveled to Huatulco, Mexico, last week with great hopes but today those dreams of making it to the Olympics were dashed, at least momentarily.

Brandon finished the swim in 11.43 and Kian Trejo in 13.22 at the 2021 World Triathlon Cup on Sunday. They transitioned. Brandon in 1.10 and Trejo in 1.16. They started the ride but had been lapped and were asked to retire. They were recorded as LAP (lapped).

Jordan finished the swim in 13:51, transitioned but didn’t start the ride so he was recorded as DNF (Did Not Finish).

The triathlon is comprised of a 750 meter swim, a 20K ride and a 5K run.

Mislawchuk did the swim in 8.29. In effect, 57 participants completed the swim in under nine minutes.

Forty-nine triathletes out of a total of 60 from different countries completed the triathlon.
