By Benjamin Flowers: Today marks the two-year anniversary of San Pedro residents Melvin Montesino and Silverio Cal went missing, and their family is still seeking closure.

Breaking Belize News spoke with the grandfather of the missing men today, who said that he has had communication with the Belize Police Department up to the Commissioner; however, there have been no substantial updates in the case.

“We just don’t want this case to be forgotten like that,” he said. “All we’re told is that the case is under investigation. We want some closure, not just for my grandkids’ dad but for the rest of their family.”

He went on to say that the family strongly believes both men were murdered, noting that the motorcycle they were riding at the time they disappeared was found in the sea and a helmet was discovered on the beach a few days after. He noted that some leaves with blood stains were found in an area not far from where the helmet was found, but no indication of what may have happened to their bodies.

On June 13, 2019, the men left together to run some errands after receiving a phone call.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to report what they know by calling 922.
