Four held in accident after bar altercation

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a traffic mishap in the village of Trial Farm, just outside Orange Walk Town, on Sunday night.

20-year-old Jillian Germain Garcia and three others, according to police investigators, where there was an argument with other patrons. Garcia and his friends left, and thereafter, one of the patrons and a female companion left as well.

The pair were driving in a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV at high speed when they allegedly lost control and crashed first into a lamppost, then into Garcia who was walking towards East San Martin Street with his friends before fleeing on foot, abandoning the vehicle.

Garcia was immediately taken to Northern Regional Hospital, Orange Walk Town, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have detained four people including a female and two minors in relation to the incident, and done other investigative work.
