By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Oscar Quiroz of the 501 Valvoline Cycling Team won a second-in-a-row National Time Trial Championship on Sunday on the John Smith Road.

“It was an amazing feeling to be entering this prestigious race as the defending champion of the ITT and once again defending my title as the new 2021 National ITT Champion of Belize,” Quiroz said on social media.

“In addition, today was the first day of blasting my new team kit – 501 Valvoline Cycling Team!” he posted.

“We managed to pull out two 2nd places in both the junior and youth categories respectively. Myself pulling off the 1st for the overall and elite category. Fresh start and not the last time you will be hearing from us.”

The 20-mile race started and ended by the Western Pines junction on the John Smith. The race covered two laps on the John Smith Road which stretches from the Philip Goldson International Airport Road roundabout to the George Price Highway Mile-8 roundabout.
