By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Road Race Championship starts at 8:00 am by the Crooked Tree junction on the Philip Goldson Highway on Sunday, June 20.
The Men’s Road Race Championship will cover 87 miles and the Women’s and Juniors’ will run 57 miles.
“From Crooked Tree junction, it enters into the John Smith Road from the Philip Goldson Highway, goes through the Boom Road, enters the John Smith again. We do one more lap and finish where we did the time trial,” said Orson Butler, president of the Cycling Federation of Belize.
The race also passes through the George Price Highway as it comes out of the John Smith Road to connect with the Boom Road by Hattieville.
The Elite/U-23/Masters start at 8:00 am.
The Women’s and Men’s Junior riders who will start at the Crooked Tree junction as well but will do only one lap around the John Smith-George Price-Boom Road-Philip Goldson Highway route for a total of 57 miles.
The Juniors’/Youths’ Road Race starts at 8:15 am while the Women’s race gets underway at 8:20 am.
The CFB said registration is $25 for the road race and $30 race radio.
The event is open to athletes of the M/Elite, W/Elite, M/U23, M/Masters, M/Juniors and M/Youth.
