Man charged for the death of Jillian Garcia

By Benjamin Flowers: In the early morning of Sunday, June 13, a vehicle knocked down and killed 20-year-old Jillian Garcia; today, police have formally charged the driver of that vehicle.

Police have charged 29-year-old Orange Walk resident Luigi Ivan Chable with Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Drove Motor Vehicle without due care and attention, Used Unlicensed Motor Vehicle and Used Motor Vehicle not Covered by Third Party Risk Insurance.

Police investigations revealed that Garcia was socializing at Cantina Cool Mix Spot in Orange Walk along with some of his friends when he got into an altercation with another group, which included Chable.

Garcia reportedly left the establishment and was walking away when Chable allegedly ran him down with a van then drove off. The impact flung him into a nearby yard and he died of his injuries soon after. Police found the burned remains of the vehicle sometime after.
