More than 4 million Cubans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Per Prensa Latina, Cuba reported on Friday that it has administered 4,328,291 doses of vaccine to its population.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), 2,145,685 people in Cuba have been given at least one dose. 1,389,450 have received two doses, and 793,126 have already received all three.

Prensa Latina reports that Cuba had developed five vaccines and has been conducting trials on all of them: Soberana 01, Soberana 02 and Soberana PLUS, made by the Finlay Vaccines Institute (FVI); and Mambisa and Abdala, manufactured by the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Center (BGIC).

The people vaccinated are all volunteers participating in the clinical trials that have as the ultimate objective, the protection of the entire Cuban population against COVID-19, said Prensa Latina.
