By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Brandon Cattouse of the C-Ray D. Banner Cycling Team won the Masters National Road Race Championship over Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel of Team Cycology in a sprint to the finish line on the John Smith Road on Sunday with both clocking 3 hours, 59 minutes and 01 second.
Cattouse was riding unattached for this race according to the Cycling Federation of Belize.
The 87-mile National Road Race Championship started at the Crooked Tree junction (Mile 31) on the Philip Goldson Highway, turned right at Ladyville, went onto the Airport Road, the John Smith Road, the George Price Highway from Mile 8 to Hattieville, turning right on to the Boom Road, back to the Philip Goldson Highway and back to the John Smith, and then one more lap on the John Smith-Boom circuit, finishing just before the entrance to Western Paradise.
Henry ‘Henno’ Moriera of 501 Valvoline was 3rd in 4:01:14.
Kenroy ‘Smokes’ Gladden riding for team Kulture came in 4th in 4:02:32.
M&M Engineering secured the next two spots as Preston Martinez rode in a while later in 4:11:43 taking the 5th position and team leader Roque Matus positioning himself in 6th in 4:12:41.
Cycology’s Dwayne Wade was 7th in 4:12:41 while Vallan Symns of Kulture took the 8th spot in 4:12:41.
Five other Masters riders did not complete the national road race.
