Derrick Chavarria of 501 Valvoline beats G-Flow’s Renan Codd in final sprint to win Men’s Junior National Road Championship in 2:44:33

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Derrick Chavarria of 501 Valvoline Cycling Team beat G-Flow’s Renan Codd to the finish line in a heated sprint to claim the Men’s Junior National Road Championship in 2 hours, 44 minutes and 33 seconds.

Codd recorded the same time.

The 57-mile National Road Race Championship started at the Crooked Tree junction (Mile 31) on the Philip Goldson Highway, turned right at Ladyville, went onto the Airport Road, the John Smith Road, the George Price Highway from Mile 8 to Hattieville, turning right on to the Boom Road, back to the Philip Goldson Highway and back to the John Smith, finishing just before the entrance to Western Paradise.

The only Youth Category rider in the race, Tyler Tejeda of Guerra’s Bikeshop, took 3rd place in 2:57:59.

Unattached rider Daniel Williams rode in 4th in 2:58:06.

Also unattached, Elwin Humes, rode in 5th in 3:03:58.

Two riders did not complete the race.
