By Zoila Palma: The Belize Tapir Project says that it has located another dead tapir on the John Smith link road.
In a statement issued on its page, the Belize Tapir Project said that the tapir is the 5th such found dead on the same road since November 2020.
The Belize Tapir Project is pleading to all motorists to be aware of wildlife crossings and to drive with caution.
“We are very concerned with this current rate of mortality and also because a mother and calf were recently recorded in this area. Again, we plea to drivers using the John Smith road to drive with extreme caution,” the statement said.
In addition, it said that the collision occurred during the day.
