Policeman shot near border in Toledo

By Aaron Humes: Multiple sources including officials have confirmed that a police officer on joint patrol near the border village of Machakilha, Toledo District, was shot and injured to the ankle.

We understand that the officer was with Belize Defence Force colleagues when they came under fire, allegedly from Guatemalan xateros.

The injury is not life threatening and the officer is being transported for medical attention.
