A Killer Worst Than COVID

Paid Collaboration: As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, the media continues to rattle off statistics at full force. 

However, without a frame of reference, numbers such as the death toll can be difficult to interpret. Mortalities attributed to the virus, for example, are often measured in the thousands of people per day globally—but is this number a little or a lot, relative to typical causes of death? Is this truly the worse killer of our time? Hardly. There is a killer much worse than COVID which we will look at in a moment but let’s first put things into perspective.  

Here’s how many people die each day on average, sorted by cause: 

#1 Cardiovascular Diseases 48,742 

#2 Cancers 26,181 

#3 Respiratory Diseases 10,724 

#4 Lower Respiratory Infections 7,010 

#5 Dementia 6,889 

#6 Digestive Diseases 6,514 

#7 Neonatal Disorders 4,887 

#8 Diarrheal Diseases 4,300 

#9 Diabetes 3,753 

#10 Liver Diseases 3,624 

Currently, cardiovascular diseases are the biggest killer globally. But not the #1 killer… 

Daily, more people die from this than COVID, Cancer, Diabetes, and everything listed above. 

150,000 people have died from this yesterday. 

150,000 people will die from this today. 

150,000 people will die from it tomorrow. 

No one is immune. 

What is it? 

SIN. 

“ALL HAVE SINNED and fall short of the glory of God” –Romans 3:23 

“For the wages of SIN is DEATH, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” –Romans 6:23 

“Therefore, just as SIN came into the world through one man, and DEATH THROUGH SIN, and so death spread to all men because all sinned” –Romans 5:12 

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” -1 John 1:8 

“If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us” -1 John 1:10 

“The soul who sins shall DIE” –Ezekiel 18:20 

THE CURE. 

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” –Romans 5:8 

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” -2 Corinthians 5:21 

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” -1 John 1:9 

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness” -1 Peter 2:24 

JESUS CHRIST SAVIOR. 

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” -1 Corinthians 15:3-4 

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” –John 3:16 

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” –Acts 4:12 

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” –Romans 10:9 

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” -1 John 1:9 

DON’T DIE IN YOUR SINS. 

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” –Romans 1:18 

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” –John 3:36 

 “Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil” -1 John 3:8 

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” –Matthew 10:28 

“And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” –Revelation 20:15 

Friends, we love you enough to tell you the truth. Today 150,000 people will die (globally). Your day has already been appointed by God. Make sure you’re ready. If you will not repent, you will perish in your sins. Repent and turn to Christ before it’s too late!
