By Zoila Palma: Today, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams said that due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, the Belize Police department will immediately begin stricter enforcement of the COVID-19 regulations.

“This is being done to contain the spread of this deadly virus within our respective communities. The Police will be monitoring the different social events and activities across the country. These events include, but are not limited to the following: wakes, nightclubs/bars operating as restaurants, private parties, weddings, and beach parties,” the Commissioner said.

In addition, the police will be observing that several establishments are advertising on social media a variety of social events.

The public is urged to protect themselves by abstaining from hosting or attending such events.

Those caught in violation will be prosecuted.

The Belize Police Department calls on the public to comply with the COVID-l9 protocols to stop the further spread of COVID-19.
